It is the largest port in the world for liquid gas and also the most modern petrochemical plant in the Persian Gulf. The port encompasses an area of 300 hectares with two dams projecting into the sea for approximately 11 km.

The total area of the port is approximately 1,000 hectares and includes berths, mooring points and piers for a width of 6 km with the possibility of doubling the mooring points and the number of users for loading and unloading, as well as a port for roll-on-roll-off container ships for the transport of railway wagons and trucks. The work makes it possible to refuel the largest tankers in the world with a stowage capacity of over 150,000 tonnes.
